3 killed as bus collides with truck in Bagerhat

Three people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Khulna-Mawa highway at Palerhat area in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat on Sunday morning. 

Of the deceased, two are the drivers of the bus and the truck and another is a ten-month-old child. 

Details identity of them could not be known immediately. 

Abul Hasan, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat Highway Police Station, said the incident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of Comfort Line reached Palerhat area and collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. Later, fire service members rushed to the spot and recovered two dead bodies.  

Md Sabuj Sheikh, Emergency Department Doctor of Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, said a ten-month-old child was taken to the hospital and it was declared dead. Parents of the baby are in a critical condition. They were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Golam Sarwar, Deputy Assistant Director of Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defence, said they rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two drives and handed them to the police.
