JS session resumes tomorrow

The budget session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad will resume at 5:30pm on Sunday after a 16-day recess on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

The 11th session of the JS started on July 1 and the finance minister, Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, placed the national budget for 2016-17 fiscal on June 2.

The new budget was passed on June 30 and on the following day, the parliament session was adjourned till 5:30 pm on June 17.

Earlier, general discussions were held on the budget for 60 hours and 50 minutes on 20 workdays.

A total of 246 lawmakers, including leader of the house and the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, and the leader of the opposition, Rawshan Ershad, took part in the discussions.

Besides the budget, a number of bills were passed in the current session and the prime minister Sheikh Hasina responded to some national, regional and international issues during her question-answer time.

As per decision of the business advisory committee, the budget session of the parliament will end on July 28.
