A case has been filed against Ashish Roy Chowdhury, the No. 1 accused in actor Sohel Chowdhury murder case, under the Narcotics Control Act.

Zahangir Alam, the deputy assistant director (DAD) of the Rapid Action Battalion-10, lodged the case with Gulshan Police Station on Wednesday night.

And this morning, he was sent to court from there, the police station officer in-charge Abul Hasan confirmed on Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday night, RAB members in a drive arrested Ashish Roy Chowdhury from a house named 25/B Firoja Garden at Gulshan in capital Dhaka.

A huge amount of foreign wine, beer, and lead were also seized from the house, the elite force said after the operation.

On December 17, 1998, actor Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead under the now-defunct Tramps Club in the capital's Banani area.

Later, his brother Touhidul Islam Chowdhury lodged a case with Gulshan Police Station in this connection.
