Actor Sohel Chowdhury murder: Prime accused held after 24 years

Ashish Roy Chowdhury, the fugitive and No. 1 accused in the chargesheet of the sensational actor Sohel Chowdhury murder case, was arrested in capital Dhaka's Gulshan area on Tuesday night.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive apprehended him from a house named 25/B Firoja Garden, a higher official of the elite force confirmed to Jago News.

A huge amount of foreign wine, beer, and lead were also seized from the house during the operation, the official said.

On the spot, RAB legal and media wing director Khandaker Al Moin told the media that they also detained two women from his house and they would be quizzed.

On December 17, 1998, actor Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead under the now-defunct Tramps Club in the capital's Banani area.

Later, his brother Touhidul Islam Chowdhury lodged a case with Gulshan Police Station in this connection.
