Tipu-Prity murder: 5 accused on 5-day remand
A court has placed five accused on a five-day remand each in a case filed over the murders of Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afran Prity in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostofa Reza Noor passed the order on Sunday.
The accused are Mohammad Omor Faruk, Nasir Uddin alias Killer Nasir, Saleh Shikder alias Shooter Saleh, Morshedul Alam alias Kailla Polash and Arfan Ullah Damal.
Earlier, the investigation officer of the case and police Inspector Mohammad Yeasin Shikder placed the accused before the court with ten-day remand prayer.
On March 28, Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofajjal Hosen placed another accused shooter Md Masum alias Akash on seven-day remand.
On March 26, Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police arrested Masum from Bagura district.
Tipu, who was on his microbus destined for his Khilgaon home, was shot dead by a masked assailant in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area on night of March 24.
A rickshaw passenger Prity was also got shot and died on the spot.
Tipu’s driver Monir Hosen Munna got shot on his hand in the incident.
Later, Tipu’s wife Farhana Islam Dolly filed the case with Shahjahanpur Police station.
