Holy Ramadan begins today
Muslims in Bangladesh started observing the Holy month Ramadan from Sunday as the new moon was sighted in the country on Saturday evening.
Lailatul Qadr will be observed on the night of April 28.
The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision in a meeting held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque yesterday.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan MP presided over the meeting.
According to the information received from all district administrations, Islamic Foundation's head office, divisional and district offices, meteorological department, and Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO), the Moon of month Ramadan of Hijr 1443 was sighted. Accordingly, Ramadan begins on Sunday, the state minister said at the meeting.
