Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said the government has taken initiatives to enhance treatment facilities of some non-communicable diseases like cancer, kidney and cardiovascular diseases for the extreme poor people at all the district level hospitals, reports BSS.

“All the district level hospitals under the eight divisions across the country will be accommodated with the treatment facilities of cancer, kidney and heart diseases particularly for the poor people,” she said.

The prime minister and the leader of the House said this responding to a query made by opposition lawmaker Rustam Ali Farazi of Pirojpur-2 while participating in question answer session scheduled for the premier in the Jatiya Sangsad.

At the district hospitals, the prime minister said each ten beds will be fixed for the dialysis of kidney patients and ten others for intensive care unit (ICU).

The present government has already reached health care facilities to the doorsteps of the poor as poor people are now getting most of the healthcare services including the maternal health care facilities, said the prime minister.
