35 Bangladeshi return after languishing in Indian jail

35 Bangladeshi nationals including 29 women and 3 minors, who had been trafficked in India in the name of giving attractive jobs, returned home from India on Friday evening after suffering different terms of jail there.

Indian Immigration Police handed them over to the Bangladesh authorities through Benapole check post around 6pm.

Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration police, said all the 35 had been trafficked to India through different bordering area in different times.

Indian police arrested them from different cities and sent them to jail.

Later, the process to bring them back started following joint intervention of the home ministries of the two countries.

Salma Khatun, coordinator of Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers’ Association, Jessore Unit said the victims will be handed over to their families within one week.
