Amir Hamza excluded from recipient list of Independence Award

Late Md Amir Hamza has been excluded from the list of Independence Award amid criticizm.

The Cabinet Division on Friday published a new list of the award recipients, excluding his name.

Earlier on March 15, the government announced the names of 10 distinguished personalities and one organization for this year's Independence Award in recognition of their contribution to the national level.

Late Md Amir Hamza was given the highest state award in Literature" category.

Announcing the name of an unknown writer like him instead of the country's renowned writer-poet-litterateur sparked huge criticism.

Apart from this, the local newspapers reported that the late Amir Hamza was convicted and sentenced accused in a murder case.
