Hoseni Dalan blast: 2 sentenced to jail, 6 acquitted

A Dhaka tribunal has sentenced two people to different jail terms and acquitted six others in the case filed over bomb blast at Hoseni Dalan during the preparation for Tajia procession ahead of the holy Ashura in 2015.

Judge Mojibur Rahman of the Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal of Dhaka passed the order on Tuesday.  

The court sentenced Arman alias Monir to 10 years in jail and Kabir Hossen alias Rashed alias Ashif to 7 years. 

The acquitted people are Omor Faruk Manik, Hafez Ahsan Ullah Mahmud, Shahjalal Miah, Chan Miah, Abu Sayeed Rasel alias Solaiman alias Salman alias Saymon and Rubel Islam alias Sajeeb alias Sumon. 

On October 23, 2015, five members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) blasted a bomb at Hoseni Dalan which killed two people and injured hundreds more.

The next day, Jalal Uddin, a sub-inspector of Chawkbazar Police Station, filed a case against some unidentified people under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

In October, 2016, Md Shafiuddin Sheikh, Inspector of DB (south) submitted a charge sheet in the case accusing 10 militants.

On May 31, 2017, a court framed charges against the 10 accused.

On May 14, 2018, the case was transferred to the Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal.
