Case filed over death of 11 zebras at Safari Park
A case has been filed against the former acting officer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur over the death of 11 zebras at the park.
Present acting officer of the park Rafiqul Islam lodged the case on Thursday night, Sreepur Police Station inspector (investigation) Mahfuz Imtiaz Bhuiyan confirmed.
He said allegations of damage to state assets, negligence to duty, and cruelty to animals have been brought in the lawsuit.
Earlier, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park's then acting officer and assistant forest conservator Tabibur Rahman, and veterinary officer Dr Hatem Sazzad Md Zulkarnain were withdrawn over the zebra deaths.
The case statement said a total of 11 zebras died from January 2 to 29, prompting an investigation into the incident.
