Three people died from coronavirus and 327 contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 29,100 and 19,48,798 respectively, a health directorate press release on Thursday.

As many as 17,093 samples were collected and 17,103 tested in the past day.

During the period, 2,479 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 18,55,249.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 451,956,401 people and killed 6,045,315 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 386,396,646 across the world.
