Ex-minister Khandaker Mosharraf’s brother Babar arrested
Police have arrested Khandaker Mohtesam Hossain Babar, brother of former LGRD Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, in a Tk 2,000 crore money laundering case.
Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md Alimuzzaman confirmed the matter to Jago News on Tuesday morning.
Further details regarding Babar will be disclosed at a press briefing at Kotwali Police Station at noon, said Additional Police Superintendent (administration and crime) Jamal Pasha.
Babar was arrested from Bashundhara residential area in the capital around 3am.
Earlier, on 3 March last year, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police filed a charge sheet against 10 people, including Babar in the case.
CID Assistant Superintendent of Police Uttam Kumar Biswas filed the charge sheet at the concerned branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
The other accused in the case are former minister APS AHM Fouad, Khandaker Nazmul Islam Levy, Ashikur Rahman Farhan, Fahad Bin Wazed alias Fahim, Kamrul Hasan David, Mohammad Ali Didar and Tariqul Islam Nasim.
