Coronavirus: 8 new deaths, 529 cases

Eight more people died from coronavirus and 529 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 29,085 and 19,47,266 respectively, a health directorate press release on Sunday.

As many as 20,062 samples were collected and 20,132 tested in the past day.

During the period, 3,340 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 18,43,338.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 445,626,733 people and killed 6,016,721 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 378,703,408 across the world.
