Coronavirus: 6 new deaths, 608 cases

Six more people died from coronavirus and 608 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 29,064 and 19,46,369 respectively, a health directorate press release on Friday.

As many as 18,964 samples were collected and 22,890 tested in the past day.

During the period, 4,403 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 18,35,980.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 442,586,456 people and killed 6,003,619 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 375,543,216 across the world.
