5 burnt in Malibagh gas cylinder explosion

Five people were burnt after a gas cylinder exploded in a godown at Malibagh in the capital in the wee hours of Thursday.  

They are Md Siddiqur Rahman Siddiq, 60, Md Helal Uddin, 50, Md Nader Ali, 50, Md Nur Nabi, 51 and Md Yousuf Ali, 49. 

They were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. 

Md Rasel, the man who took the injured to the institute, said a gas cylinder exploded in a godown at Dhamalibagh Chowdhurypara around 1am. Five people were burnt in the incident and sent them to the hospital around 2:30am.  

Dr SM Ayub Hossain, Resident Physician of the institute, said of the injured, four people are in critical conditions.   

He said Siddiq suffered 52% burn injuries, Helal 85%, Nader 43%, Nur Nabi 42% and Yousuf 12%.
