Man gets life for raping seventh-grader

A court in Rangamati on Tuesday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment and fined him Tk 5 lakh for raping a seventh-grader.
The district women and children repression prevention tribunal judge SEM Ismail Hossain gave the verdict against Md Faruk, 40.
The case statement said Faruk, a resident of Kaukhali upazila, violated the girl on several occasions promising to marry her.
The victim's family came to know the matter after she had become pregnant. Subsequently, she gave birth to a child but it died after three days of birth.
Later, the DNA test results showed that Faruk is the father of the newborn.
