Brothers killed in Gozaria local battle

Two brothers were killed and 10 others wounded by bullet in a clash between two groups of villagers at Golakirchar village in Gozaria upazila of Munshiganj district on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Golap Sarkar, newly elected UP member of Hosandi Union parishad and his brother Ayub Sarkar.

Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj  Saiful Islam Badal said supporters of Abdul Matin Montu, ex-UP chairman and Golap Sarkar engaged into a bloody clash equipped with fire arms and lethal weapons in the night, leaving the two brother dead on spot by bullet and 10 others injured.

Later, locals rescued the injured and sent five to local hospital and five to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Police arrested three in this connection.

Additional law enforcers were deployed at the area to avoid awkward situations, said the police.
