Pradeep, Liaqat file appeal seeking acquittal

Former officer in-charge (dismissed) Pradeep Kumar Das and inspector Liaqat Ali have filed an appeal with the High Court seeking acquittal in Major (retd) Sinha murder case.

The appeal was lodged on Monday, the accused's lawyer advocate Rana Dasgupta confirmed to Jago News on Tuesday. 

Earlier on January 31, the court of Cox's Bazar District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail sentenced OC Pradeep, inspector Liaqat and six others to death in the sensational murder case.

The court also acquitted seven other accused from charges of the lawsuit. 

Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf on the night of Eid-ul-Azha on July 31, 2020.

Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, elder sister of Sinha, filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court after the incident on August 5.

Cox's Bazar's Teknaf Police Station's former officer in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das and Baharchhara police check-post's ex-inspector Liaqat Ali were made No. one, and two accused in the lawsuit respectively.
