Coronavirus: 34 new deaths, 4746 cases

Thirty-four more people died from coronavirus and 4,746 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,872 and 19,19,102 respectively, a health directorate press release on Tuesday.

As many as 34,175 samples were collected, and 34,458 tested in the past day.

During the period, 11,417 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 17,03,309.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 414,337,201 people and killed 5,846,532 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 336,428,963 across the world.
