2,030-kg spurious date gur seized: 7 held in Rajshahi

Police, in an anti-crime drive, seized 2,030 kilograms of spurious date gur and arrested seven persons from Arani Chakarpara village under Bagha upazila in the district early this morning, reports BSS. 

The arrested persons were identified as Raquib Ali, 43, Sumon Ali, 42, Manik Ali, 30, Masud Rana, 32, Biplob Hossain, 25, Abdul Mamun Ali, 27, and Babul Hossain, 25.

On a tip-off, a police team of Detective Branch unearthed a fake date manufacturing factory at the Chakarpara village and seized huge spurious date gur and gur making chemicals and instruments, including sugar, fitkari, hydrous and butter.

The operation team also arrested seven persons for their alleged involvement in the malpractice.

Superintendent of Police Masud Hossain told BSS that they have been manufacturing fake date gur for a long time.
