Names proposed to search committee to be revealed

All the names proposed to the search committee to appoint the chief election commissioner and other election commissioners will be revealed on Monday.

The committee President and Supreme Court's Appellate Division Justice Obaidul Hassan said this after the third meeting of a series of discussions with the country's prominent people on Sunday.

He said, "The names we have received so far and if more names come by 5 pm tomorrow, these will be published on the website of Cabinet Division. The media can publish from there."

Earlier on Saturday, Cabinet Division Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said a total of 309 people's names were submitted to form an election commission.

Justice Obaidul Hassan said those political parties, including BNP, CPD, and BaSad, have been told to submit the list of their preferred names by 5 pm tomorrow.
