Coronavirus: 28 new deaths, 4838 cases

Twenty-eight more people died from coronavirus and 4,838 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,819 and 19,09,646 respectively, a health directorate press release on Sunday.

As many as 32,503 samples were collected, and 32,574 tested in the past day.

During the period, 13,853 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 16,78,655.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 411,130,557 people and killed 5,830,356 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 331,312,055 across the world.
