The government has been urged to reveal to the media the search committee's proposed names given to the President to form a new election commission.

The country's distinguished media personalities made the request in a meeting at the Supreme Court Judges Lounge on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier around 1 pm, they joined the meeting called by the search committee.

After the meeting, Ekattar Television CEO Mozammel Babu said they requested the government to form an uncontroversial election commission, though it is difficult in a time of political divisions but has to try.

They urged to include names from the media, too, as the senior journalists see the election and its process very closely, he said.

They also requested to reveal the proposed names to the media a few days earlier, so that the people's reactions can be known.

Bhorer Kagaj Editor Shyamal Dutt said they urged to include representatives from minority communities in the commission as they are the most affected in any election.

Akjer Kagoj Editor Dr Golam Rahman said they urged the government to bring the political parties in the process (formation of election commission).

Channel 24 Managing Director AK Azad said they requested to propose names of the qualified and uncontroversial persons to the President and publish the ones to the media.
