Coronavirus: 43 new deaths, 8354 cases

Forty-three more people died from coronavirus and 8,354 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,670 and 18,79,255 respectively, a health directorate press release on Tuesday.

As many as 41,879 samples were collected, and 41,698 tested in the past day.

During the period, 10,800 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 16,22,857.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 398,632,747 people and killed 5,770,927 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 318,605,858 across the world.
