2 killed in election violence in Satkania

Two people including a teenager were killed at Satkania upazila in Chattogram during Union Parishad election on Monday.  

The deceased were identified as Tasib, 13, of Nalua union and Abdus Shukkur, 40, of Bajalia union. 

In Nalua union, the supporters of two chairman candidates locked in a clash. At one stage, Hasib was stabbed around 12pm and sent to Satkania Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. 

In Bajalia union, a clash was ensued between the supporters of Awami League nominated chairman candidate Taposh Dutta and its rival candidate Shahidullah. At one stage, Shukkur was killed in shooting. 

In this connection, Abdul Jalil, Officer-in-charge of Satkania Police Station, said two people were killed in Bajalia and Nalua unions. Bodies of the duo were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsies. Legal action is being taken in the incidents.
