Coronavirus: 29 new deaths, 8345 cases

Twenty-nine more people died from coronavirus and 8,345 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,589 and 18,61,532 respectively, a health directorate press release on Sunday.

As many as 38,247 samples were collected, and 38,821 tested in the past day.

During the period, 8,159 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 16,02,550.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 394,491,165 people and killed 5,753,983 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 313,286,867 across the world.
