Army officer among 4 killed in Bandarban gunfight

Four people including an army officer were killed and another army man was injured in a gunfight in Bandarban.

The Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) confirmed the matter in a press release on Thursday. 

The deceased army officer was identified as Habibur Rahman, a Senior Warrant Officer. 

The injured army member is Feroz. 

According to the army source, the terrorists opened fire when a patrolling team led by army officer Habibur Rahman reached Bothipara on Wednesday night. Habibur was killed on the spot and Feroz was injured. In reply, army men fired back and later three members of Santu Larma-led Parbatya Chattagram Jana-Samhati Samiti were also killed.

A sub machine gun, 275 round bullets, three magazines, three pistols, five mobile phones and Tk 52,900 were recovered from their possession. 

In this connection, Abul Kashem, Officer-in-charge of Ruma Police Station, said he was informed that army officer and three terrorists were killed in gunfight.
