Coronavirus: 31 new deaths, 13154 cases

Coronavirus: 31 new deaths, 13154 cases

Thirty-one more people died from coronavirus and 13,154 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,425 and 18,11,987 respectively, a health directorate press release on Tuesday.

As many as 45,031 samples were collected, and 45,093 tested in the past day.

During the period, 2,721 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,70,934.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 379,303,864 people and killed 5,693,527 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 299,352,192 across the world.
