Coronavirus: 31 new deaths, 13501 cases

Thirty-one more people died from coronavirus and 13,501 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,398 and 17,98,833 respectively, a health directorate press release on Monday.

As many as 45,284 samples were collected, and 45,358 tested in the past day.

During the period, 2,568 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,68,213.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 375,613,622 people and killed 5,683,013 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 296,750,354 across the world.
