Coronavirus: 17 new deaths, 9614 cases
Seventeen more people died from coronavirus and 9,614 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.
With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,209 and 16,74,230 respectively, a health directorate press release on Saturday.
As many as 34,207 samples were collected, and 34,311 tested in the past day.
During the period, 482 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,56,079.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 347,310,534 people and killed 5,604,886 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 276,832,895 across the world.
