Daily Covid cases exceed 10000
The Bangladesh government recorded 10,888 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total infections stood at 16,53,182 and fatalities rose to 28,180, a health directorate press release said on Wednesday.
As many as 40,898 samples were collected and 41,292 tested in the past day.
During the period, 577 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,54,845.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 339,709,667 people and killed 5,584,789 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 273,260,013 across the world.
