Daily Covid cases cross 2000 after 4 months

The daily coronavirus cases in the country surpassed 2000 again after around four months.

As many as 2,231 infections were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 15,95,931.

Earlier on September 14 last year, 2,074 people contracted the virus in a day.

In the past day, three more people died from the virus, bringing the total to 28,105, a health directorate press release said on Monday.

A total of 26,816 samples were collected, and 26,143 tested in the last 24 hours.

During the period, 208 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,51,113.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 308,052,127 people and killed 5,507,387 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 259,653,231 across the world.
