8th phase UP polls on Feb 10

The Election Commission has fixed February 10 to hold the eighth phase of the union parishad (UP) election.

According to the schedule announced on Tuesday evening, the candidates will have to submit the nomination papers by January 16.

The deadline for scrutinizing nomination papers is January 17 and the last date of withdrawing candidacy January 24.

The union parishads where election will be held are Taranagar under Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka, Shrifaltali under Kaliakar upazila of Gazipur, Sukhchar under Hatia upazila, Nolchira under Gauranadi upazila of Barishal, Char Jabber and Char Jubilee under Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali, Badarpur under Lalmohan upazila of Bhola, and Nityanandapur under Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.
