7 get life term imprisonment for murder in Lakshmipur

A court has sentenced seven people including a newly elected UP member to life-term imprisonment and acquitted eleven others in a case filed over the murder of terrorist Anwar Hossain in Lakshmipur. 

Lakshmipur District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Rahibul Islam passed the order on Monday.  

The court also fined each of them Tk 10,000, in default of which they will suffer one year more in jail.

Public Prosecutor of the court Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter to Jago News. 

The convicts are newly elected member of 4 number ward of Duttapara union Md Ismail, his father former UP chairman Abdul Aziz, brothers Md Sabuj, Billal Hossain Biplob, Ibrahim Hossain, Md Manik and Abul Kashem. 

On June 4 in 2011, Anwar was shot dead by the convicts at Duttapara bazar. Later, his brother Ashek-e-Ilahi filed a case against 25 people. 

On January 10 in 2015, a charge sheet against 18 people was submitted to the court.
