557 new Covid cases in 24 hrs
The Bangladesh government recorded 557 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total infections stood at 15,86,466 and fatalities rose to 28,077, a health directorate press release said on Sunday.
As many as 19,189 samples were collected, and 19,130 tested in the past day.
During the period, 253 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,49,557.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 289,781,118 people and killed 5,458,686 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 254,268,914 across the world.
