Another die of Covid-19, casualties reach 1,251 in Rangpur
Another Covid-19 patient died during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today raising the number of coronavirus related casualties to 1,251 in Rangpur division.
"The new casualty was reported from Dinajpur district," Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told BSS today.
The district-wise breakup of the 1,250 fatalities currently stands at 293 in Rangpur, 81 in Panchagarh, 89 in Nilphamari, 69 each in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram, 256 in Thakurgaon, 331 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the division.
The average casualty rate stands at 2.24 percent in the division.
Meanwhile, the total number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 54,020 with recovery of 27 more infected patients on Saturday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 96.89 percent.
The 54,020 recovered patients include 12,039 of Rangpur, 3,721 Panchagarh, 4,370 Nilphamari, 2,625 Lalmonirhat, 4,527 Kurigram, 7,417 Thakurgaon, 14,519 in Dinajpur and 4,802 Gaibandha districts in the division.
At the same time, the total number of Covid-19 cases remained steady at 55,756 as no new patients were diagnosed after testing 72 samples in the division on Saturday.
"The district-wise break up of total 55,756 patients include 12,562 of Rangpur, 3,835 Panchagarh, 4,463 of Nilphamari, 2,763 of Lalmonirhat, 4,649 of Kurigram, 7,702 of Thakurgaon, 14,903 of Dinajpur and 4,879 of Gaibandha in the division," he said.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, a total of 3,07,305 collected samples were tested till Saturday, and of them, 55,756 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 18.14 percent in the division.
Among the 55,756 patients, 27 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including six critical patients at ICU beds and two at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 54,020 patients and 1,251 deaths while 458 are remaining now in home isolation.
Meanwhile, number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 80,45,679, and among them, 55,17,828 got the second dose and 7,065 got the booster dose of the jabs till Saturday in the division, Dr Islam added.
Acting Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzer Rahman said the Covid-19 pandemic situation continues to improve in recent months in the division.
"However, everyone should properly abide by the health directives and hygiene rules to prevent another probable wave of the lethal virus amid detection of its new Omicron variant," he said.
