Five arrested for 'gang-raping' teenager

Police have arrested five construction workers in the capital in a case filed for allegedly gang-raping a teenage girl.

The arrested accused are Md Sohel Rana, Md Joynal Abedin, Md Moinul Hossain, Md Sumon Ali, and Md Masum Ali.

Tapash Kumar Das, the additional deputy commissioner of (Airport zone) Uttara Division Police, confirmed the arrest to Jago News on Saturday.

He said the victim knew construction worker Zahirul through Facebook and on December 24, she came to Uttara area of the capital from Brahmanbaria to meet him. 

On the following night, the accused tied Zahirul and gang-raped her in an under-construction building, the ADC said. 

On December 30, the victim lodged a case with Uttara East Police Station in this connection, he added. 

Following the case filing, police first arrested Sohel and Joynal from Uttara area and on information gleaned from the duo, they apprehended Moinul, Sumon, and Masum from Abdullahpur Bus Stand area, the ADC also said.
