2 Satkhira drug peddlers injured in gunfight with police

Two alleged drug peddelers were injured in a gunfight with police at Akra Govt. Primary School field in Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira district on Wednesday early morning.

The injured are Mollah, 33, son of late Showkat Ali and Mofijul Islam, 26, son of Shukur Ali Sardar, are hailing from the upazila.

Information officer of district police and Sub Inspector Kamal Hossain said acting on secret information that a gang of arms dealer was taking preparation to sell arms at Akra Govt. Primary School area, team of police conducted a drive at the area.

Sensing the presence of police drug dealer gang blasted few crude bombs forced the law enforcers to open fire.

At one stage of battle the duo catch in the line of fire and sustain bullet injury. Later, police rescued the duo and sent to Sadar General Hospital.

Police also recovered one pistol and two crude bombs from the area. A case was filed in this connection.
