Probe report submission of Sagar-Runi murder case deferred for 84th time

The submission of the investigation report in the murder case of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi has been deferred for the 84th time.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdas Chandra Odhikari on Sunday asked the Rapid Action Battalion to submit the report by January 24 as the elite force failed to submit it today.

Sub-inspector Jalal Uddin, General Registration Officer of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarwar and his wife ATN Bangla senior reporter Meherun Runi were found dead at their house in the capital on February 11, 2012.

Later, Runi's brother Nousher Alam Roman lodged a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in this connection.

A sub-inspector of the police station first investigated the sensational murder case.

Four days after he took the charge, the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police was directed to look into the case.

In more than two months, the DB could not reveal the mystery behind the murder.

The High Court on April 18 of the same year asked to hand over the investigation charge to the RAB.
