Veteran journalist Reazuddin Ahmed dies
Ekushey Padak winning veteran journalist Reazuddin Ahmed passed away on Saturday afternoon. He was 77.
He breathed his last around 1:30 pm while undergoing treatment in a hospital in the capital, his family sources confirmed.
The journalist contracted coronavirus recently, and he was admitted to a hospital on December 16 after his physical condition deteriorated.
Reazuddin Ahmed received Ekushey Padak, the second highest civilian award in the country, for his glorious contribution to journalism.
The former president of Jatiya Press Club was nominated a member of the Bangladesh Press Council on December 21.
He was the founding editor of The Financial Express and The News Today.
He was the general secretary of the undivided Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), and the former president of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).
Born in 1945 in Narandi village in Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi district, Reazuddin obtained masters degree in Economics from Dhaka University in 1967, and LLB in 1972.
He joined then Pakistan Observer in 1968, and served then East-Pakistan Union of Journalists as a member of its executive committee.
