2 killed in road accidents in capital
Two people have been killed in separate road accidents in the capital.
The accidents took place in Jatrabari and Paltan from Friday evening to night.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Mazid Shikder, 45 and Amir Hossen, 35.
Abdul Majid’s relative Chan Miah said a speedy bus hit Abdul while he was crossing the road at Sayedabad area in the capital’s Jatrabari around 6pm, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he died around 8pm.
He said Abdul Majid, a resident of Bauphal thana in Patuakhali, lived in Mirhajaribag. He was the father of two children.
However, Farhad Matubbor, Sub Inspector of Paltan Police Station, said a youth named Amir Hossen was critically injured after being hit by a speedy car in front of the Olympic building in Paltan around 9:30pm. He was sent to DMCH where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 10am.
The police officer said, Amir, an inhabitant of Jajira thana in Shariyatpur, lived in the capital’s Basabo area.
Bachchu Miah, In-charge of DMCH police camp, said Majid’s body was handed over to his family without an autopsy and Amir’s body was kept at DMCH morgue for an autopsy.
