342 new Covid cases, 1 death in 24 hrs
The Bangladesh government recorded 342 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total infections stood at 15,82,710 and fatalities rose to 28,055, a health directorate press release said on Friday.
As many as 16,853 samples were collected, and 16,913 tested in the past day.
During the period, 292 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,46,956.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 278,631,986 people and killed 5,403,466 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 249,416,941 across the world.
