Covid booster dose campaign inaugurated

Covid booster dose campaign has been launched at the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in Dhaka’s Mohakhali.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the campaign on Sunday.

Foreign Minister Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, Law Minister Anisul Haque and Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim were present during this time.

Runu Veronika Kosta, Senior Staff Nurse of the Kurmitola General Hospital, got the booster dose as a first person of the country. 

Later, the all four ministers and DGHS Director General Professor Dr ABM Khursheed Alam received the dose. 

Earlier on Saturday, the minister Zahid Maleque said the government decided to vaccinate the booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine to the elderly people and front line workers such-- physicians, nurses, government officials and journalists.

He said about seven crore single dose and four crore and fifty lakh second dose of coronavirus vaccines have been immunized in the country.

It is to be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Covid-19 vaccination programme on January 27. Runu Veronika Kosta received the first dose of Coronavirus vaccine as a first person of the country in that time.
