State Minister Murad Hassan resigns

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Murad Hassan has resigned from his post showing personal reason.

He sent the resignation letter to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at 12:30pm on Tuesday. He is now staying in Chattogram. 

Earlier on Monday night, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader told journalists that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked Murad Hassan for resigning from the cabinet by Tuesday for making indecent remarks recently that went viral on social media.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, earlier at a function said the much-talked about recent comments of Murad Hassan is of his personal matter. Murad’s comment is neither of the government nor the Awami League.

It is to be noted that, Murad Hasan recently made derogatory remarks about BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, its acting chairperson Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman that went viral on social media. Later, a conversation between Murad and film actress Mahiya Mahi leaked and went viral on social media that sparked waves of criticism.
