Surveillance increases on North South University: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday said government decided to keep strong vigilance on North South University’s (NSU) activities as it was proved that students of the NSU were involved in several terrorist attacks.

Following the recent deadly terrorist attacks at Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery and Solakia Eidgah government took the decision, Nahid revealed the information in a meeting with Professor Abdul Mannan, chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) at Secretariat in the morning.

Earlier, the ministry asked to universities to submit the list of students who were absent in class over 10 days in a row to curb militancy from the country.

Beside, law enforcers and detectives are in duties around the NSU after the terrorist attacks at Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery and Solakia Eidgah.

On July 2, terrorist attacked at city’s Gulshan Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery where gunman killed 22 people including 17 foreigners and two police officials and at Sholakia Eidgah on July 7, where thousands people gathered to perform their Eid prayer, where four people, including two policemen, Jharna Bhoumik one Abir the suspected assailant were killed and 15 others injured.
