Over 500 shanties gutted in Tongi fire

More than 500 shanties were gutted in a fire that broke out at Hajir bazar slum in Tongi of Gazipur early Saturday. 

Being informed, nine units of fire services rushed to the spot and took the fire under control in three hours. 

No casualties were reported yet. 

Some slum dwellers said, the fire broke out at a shanty of the slum around 4am and soon it engulfed the adjacent shanties.

In this connection, Md Iqbal Hasan, Senior Officer of Tongi fire service, said nine units of fire services of Tongi, Uttara and Kurmitola doused the fire around 7am.
