Charges framed against journo Kajol in 3 cases

A court in Dhaka has indicted photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol in three separate cases filed under the Digital Security Act.

Judge Ash Sams Joglul Hossain of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal on Monday framed charges against Kajol when he pleaded not guilty and sought justice.

Earlier, the hearing on charge framing against him in the cases was scheduled to be held on October 21 but it was rescheduled to November 8 as Judge Ash Sams Joglul Hossain was on vacation.

The Border Guard Bangladesh members detained Shafiqul Islam Kajol from Sadirpur ground along Benapole border in Jashore on May 2, 53 days after he had gone missing from his Chawkbazar home in the capital.

On May 3, BGB filed a case against him accusing him of intruding into Bangladesh from India but he subsequently secured bail in the lawsuit.

Later, he was arrested and sent to jail in another case filed with Kotwali Model Police Station under section 54.

Earlier, MP Saifuzzaman Shikhar filed a DSA case against him with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

Two female Jubo League leaders also filed two cases against him with Hazaribagh, and Kamrangichar Police Stations under the same act.

Later, he got bail in the three cases.
