Driver arrested for 'rape attempt' on moving bus

Police have arrested a driver in a case filed for allegedly attempting to rape a college girl on a running bus on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Manikganj.

Police and the victim said she boarded a bus of 'Kalampur Enterprise' from Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district for going to Manikganj on Saturday morning. 

After coming some distance, almost all the passengers got off the bus and then, the driver obstructed the victim while alighting from the vehicle, assuring her of reaching destination. 

He attempted to rape her after the bus crossed Nayadingi Bus Stand in Manikganj but she jumped off it. During the incident, assistant of the driver was on steering.

Saturia Police Station officer in-charge Ashraful Alam said police arrested the bus driver after the college student had filed a case in this connection.
