Quader urges transport owners, workers to withdraw strike
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has urged the transport owners and workers to withdraw their indefinite strike considering the sufferings of examinees, and ordinary people.
He, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League, made the call during a briefing at his residence in the capital on Friday.
A nationwide transport strike started across the country this morning in protest against fuel price hike, causing immense suffering to the examinees and ordinary people.
The minister said the meeting of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority's fare rescheduling committee would be held on Sunday there fare would be adjusted realistically.
Earlier on Wednesday, the government raised the prices of diesel and kerosene by Tk 15 amid a rise in the international market.
